What is the standards of plywood

Oct 18, 2022

Artificial boards are widely used in furniture and kitchen cabinets. In order to make the boards stronger and more durable, moisture-proofing agents and adhesives need to be added to the wood-based boards, which are the main sources of free formaldehyde.

E0, E1, and E2 all refer to an environmental protection standard with a limited level of formaldehyde release. Originally, the two standards of E1 and E2 were produced in Germany and formulated by "EGGER". Later, they were introduced as European standards.

The specific data are as follows: E2≤5.0mg/L, E1≤1.5mg/L, E0≤0.5mg/L. Household products that meet the E0 standard have already belonged to the top international environmental protection standards, and the amount of formaldehyde released is almost negligible.

E0 is produced in Japan and is the most stringent environmental protection standard, equivalent to E (1/2) in Europe, which is formulated according to the content of formaldehyde and other harmful substances in the board.

The E1 level is already "without treatment, completely harmless to humans and animals". E0 level is a voluntary standard of some enterprises, not a mandatory standard.

American CARB and EPA standards, formaldehyde emission P2≤0.05ppm (microclimate chamber method)

Japanese JAS standard, formaldehyde emission is divided into: (dryer method)
